Baby Suzie had allergies diagnosed and was given help to manage her diet. But Suzie still had reflux. She was still waking often through the night, had tummy pain, constipation, was irritable, and was not gaining weight. When the Low Chemical diet was added to her diet all of these symptoms reduced and she looked like a different girl with more colour in her now-happy face.Food chemical sensitivity “aggravates the underlying disorder in susceptible people”. The important idea here is that one of … [Read more...]
Eating away from home
In the real world you are likely to travel to a big city and need to manage your diet while eating out with relations or friends. Try to plan accommodation that includes a microwave oven. The hardest part is managing the restaurant meals. You have to stress no herbs or spice in your main meal, and plan to avoid, or decide to test any dish with a creamy sauce, as it may contain a little wine. Then you have to remember to ask for vegetable side dishes without dressing, as Balsamic vinegar and … [Read more...]
Nausea
Nausea in food sensitive people is a mystery as it often seems to come for a while and go away for a while for no reason that is related to other symptoms or a food you may feel is a cause. Why liked foods can be tested
There are the foods you don’t like anyway, and there are foods you really like and don’t think cause your symptoms. Why is investigating diet complicated? Lydia decided to test just half a glass of her favourite good quality red wine every night for a week. And she tolerated it. But she got gut pain with a cask wine. What we now know that we didn’t forty years ago is that food-sensitivity symptoms are due to the cumulative effect of many foods. And what is more important is that liked foods … [Read more...]
Amines in peanuts when roasted
Kate sent a comment: Peanuts (and all nuts) are high in amines when roasted, so it makes sense for an amine sensitive people to react to them. You may be able to tolerate raw peanuts (try them boiled!) if you can tolerate salicylates. But raw nuts, especially peanuts, can be hard to find. My reply: Dear Kate, Yes, amines change with roasting. It may also depend on the amount of roasting so you can test different brands. The amazing thing about amines is that individuals vary in just which they … [Read more...]
